This has been a long time coming, I was hoping Ross would take the reins on this one since it is his story. But alas, here I am, so hopefully I can get at least the important stuff. And I'm sure Ross will come and edit and add stuff.
The weekend before the boy’s trip to D.C. Ross went on the young men's high adventure. And an adventure it was. The first thing the boys had to do was hike to their campsite. Some of them didn't quite make it the whole way and had to turn back and drive to the campsite. Ross was the leader that volunteered to take the 2 boys back. Why did they have to turn around you ask? Well instead of there being a path to walk on all there was, was waist high brush infested with ticks of all sizes. These ticks weren't just the normal size, there were ones that were teeny tiny and they were crawling all over these guys. Ross said that he picked off at least 75 ticks, not to even mention all the ones he just brushed off. Also they came to find out that they were also walking through poison ivy, which most of the boys got...including Ross...which we will address later, that's a story in itself...
So once at the campsite the boys had a good time that night swimming in the lake and having their dinner and dessert. And the next morning they rented a boat and had a blast. But since the rest of their hike that they were supposed to finish (another 5 miles) was like the day before they opted against it and came home early. Which was just fine with me!
AND NOW ON TO THE POISON IVY
Ross went to his Dr.'s before leaving for his trip and she just told him to put cream on it and that it'd go away in 7-10 days. It got really bad so he called his Dr. while in D.C. and she gave him a 5 day antibiotic regime. That did diddle squat. So when he got back to MO he went to his Dr.'s office and she gave him a double steroid shot which seemed to work but a few days later it came back with a vengeance. So he finally went to a minute clinic and he gave Ross steroid pills to take for 2 weeks, and that did the trick. So all in all he had poison ivy for a month, but he still feels the effects (the itchiness) and he has scars from it. It got so bad that his shorts had to be rolled up so it wasn't touching it and he could not wear pants, which meant no church. Yuck, doesn't that suck? I don't think I could've handled it.
Okay so this is how Ross's poison ivy 5 days after getting home...
This is it the next day:
And 5 days after that:
It started spreading to his arms: (and his booty, sorry not pictured :) )
And the next day THIS appeared:
gross...I know
Later that day after the nasty buggers popped:
And the next day:
This is when the healing process started, when it started scabbing. And from what Ross said it itched like CRAZY!
